The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection began its congregational life in Niles, Illinois in April of 1963.  We are a member congregation in the Metropolitan Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

We are a presence in the community as a welcoming, open congregation, reaching out to others through a variety of social concerns and projects, by sharing our confession of faith in the Lord and by a worship life which is rich in musical variety and talent.  We welcome all  who desire relationship with Jesus Christ regardless of their faith traditions, cultures and backgrounds.

In addition to our regular morning worship services, we have an active Sunday Church School for children, ages two through 14, and Bible study opportunities for adults.   Jazz Vesper services are held in the evening on the first Sunday of the month.

Some of our social concerns include Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Disaster Response, the Maine Township Food Pantry, the Navajo Indian Mission in Rock Point, Arizona and Lutheran Social Services of Illinois Augustana Ministries for the Developmentally Disabled.

Our worship services are liturgical.  Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month and on all festival days and we welcome to the Lord's Table all who believe that Jesus Christ is present in the Sacrament, offering the gifts of forgiveness and newness of life.
